1. Black cumin(Nigella sativa) is an extremely complex substance containing
more than one hundred constituents. It's effectiveness is due to the combination
of fatty oils, volatile oils and trace elements. Components include:
21% protein, 35% oil (80% polyunsaturated fats, including 30% RDA of natural
vitamin E tocopherols (alpha, beta and gamma**) and tocotrienols, omega 3
fatty acids, 38% carbohydrates, volatile oils: thymoquinine, nigellone and
beta sitosterol, saponin, tannins.
2. Black raspberry (Rubus occidentalis): phenolic compounds,
90% polyunsaturated fats including omega 3 fatty acids, tocopherols and tocotrienols.
Overall Actions:
Black cumin: Immune system stimulator: specifically T8 and
NK cells. Increases quality of life for chemo/radiation pts, anti-oxidant,
anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, decreases LDL via inhibition of Peroxyl
Nitrates as well as alpha & gamma tocopherols via inhibition of lipid peroxidation,
cardiovascular: alter hypotensive-vascular diseases. It is an excellent source
of polyunsaturated fatty acids, specifically EFA's which are vital for
cell maintenance and stabilization of cell membranes. (Note: Diets deficient
in EFA's are associated with skin diseases such as acne, eczema and dandruff
as well as more serious problems such as menstrual disorders, heart disease
and cancer). Black cumin is one of the best sources of linoleic acid and gamma
linolenic acid (other sources include evening primrose, hemp and borage). It
is a bronchodilator (mucous dissolving/vasodilating/expectorant) and thus very
effective in the treatment of asthma and whooping cough.
Black raspberry: Anti-oxidant
Note: black raspberry seed oil has a higher ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance
capacity ) than palm, corn, sunflower or olive oil.
